Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a> marks the start of a new era for Tom Holland<\/a>\u2018s Spider-Man<\/a>. The character will certainly benefit from this significant change in the MCU.<\/a><\/p>\n

When Peter Parker was first introduced in Captain America: Civil War<\/a>, he was a high school student attempting to fight crime in his neighborhood. Tony Stark immediately brought Peter into the fold and asked him to fight for his side in a battle against Captain America and other heroes.<\/p>\n

After Civil War, the stakes remained at an all-time high as Spider-Man eventually helped the Avengers fight Thanos. The web crawler then fought villains from the multiverse in Spider-Man: No Way Home<\/a> before asking Doctor Strange to create a spell for the world to forget his identity. Every recent battle for Spider-Man has been life-or-death with otherworldly consequences.<\/p>\n

Why Brand New Day\u2019s change will help Tom Holland\u2019s Spider-Man<\/p>\n

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going back to basics. According to Marvel boss Kevin Feige<\/a>, Brand New Day will feature the MCU\u2019s most accurate version of Spider-Man that mirrors the comics yet, something that fans have wanted to see.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is the first Spider-Man film that we\u2019ve made in the MCU that is focused on the classic elements of Spider-Man,\u201d Feige said in an interview with Empire<\/a>. \u201cHe\u2019s doing the Spidey thing of living in a rather sad, small apartment, listening to the police scanner and going out and using his great power responsibly.\u201d<\/p>\n

This more grounded approach allows Peter to be the \u201cfriendly neighborhood Spider-Man\u201d that he\u2019s always wanted to be. In that same Empire interview, producer Amy Pascal said that Brand New Day is more of an \u201cinternal movie\u201d and \u201cthe bigness of it is emotional, not worlds exploding.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brand New Day is shaping up to be the perfect reset for Holland\u2019s Spider-Man. He will inevitably help the Avengers at some point in their battle against Doctor Doom, but it\u2019s refreshing to see him inserted into a story where he doesn\u2019t need to save the world. It\u2019s a chance to see the city-dwelling Spider-Man that fans loved from the comics, one without Iron Man\u2019s technology or an extinction-level battle against Thanos.<\/p>\n
