The Eels were able to tap back an attacking bomb, and it leads to\u00a0Joash Papalii charging to the line.<\/p>\n

Knights’\u00a0 forward\u00a0Jermaine McEwen pulls off a try-saving tackle, but Papalii got an offload away that was touched by Knights fullback Kalyn Ponga.<\/p>\n

A poor offload from Dom Young, that was knocked-on by\u00a0Phoenix Crossland, has given the Eels a tremendous attacking chance.<\/p>\n

But the Eels have blown it.<\/p>\n

Eels halfback Ronald Volkman throws a big cut-out pass to nobody, and it bounces into touch.<\/p>\n

Parramatta have their first try on the back of two penalties committed by Newcastle’s Trey Mooney.<\/p>\n

The Eels had an attacking set at the Knights’ line.<\/p>\n

The Eels shift to the right, and winger Brian Kelly runs directly at Knights outside backs\u00a0Greg Marzhew and Fletcher Sharpe.<\/p>\n

The duo try to hold him up, and then two more Knights come to help.<\/p>\n

Newcastle prop\u00a0Trey Mooney gave away two full penalties in the space of 60 seconds.<\/p>\n

He was pinged for a dangerous tackle when Parramatta was in their own end, then for a late tackle to give the Eels an attacking set at the goal-line.<\/p>\n

Parramatta is hopeful Mitchell Moses will be fit to play against the Canterbury Bulldogs on Monday, June 8.<\/p>\n

Why is Kalyn Ponga allowed to play after his State of Origin send off?\"Michael<\/p>\n

Some readers may be wondering why Kalyn Ponga is allowed to play for the Knights this afternoon, after being sent off during State of Origin on Wednesday for a nasty shoulder charge to the head of NSW winger\u00a0Tolu Koula.<\/p>\n

\"Kalyn(Getty)<\/p>\n

The NRL’s Match Review Committee charged Ponga with a Grade 2 shoulder charge.<\/p>\n

Usually, that would result in a suspension, but a judicial process that was established in 2022 means he can play club football.<\/p>\n

With an early guilty plea, Ponga was fined 23 per cent of his match fee for State of Origin.<\/p>\n

The justification for the heavy fine, rather than a suspension, is that clubs not to be penalised for incidents that happen in representative matches.<\/p>\n
