As the NFL world scrambled to decipher the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a>‘ mysterious motive behind firing one of the newest members of Mike McCarthy’s staff<\/a> over a violation of club policy<\/a>, a new report from ESPN’s Brooke Pryor has provided some insight on the situation.<\/p>\n

According to Pryor<\/a>, the Steelers<\/a>, per a team source, indicated that special teams assistant Derius Swinton II was “dismissed due to workplace misconduct.” Pryor added that Swinton “did not return a request for comment.”<\/p>\n

Beginning his coaching career as a member of the then-St. Louis Rams<\/a> staff in 2009, Swinton would go on to have stints with the Kansas City Chiefs<\/a>, Denver Broncos<\/a>, Chicago Bears<\/a>, San Francisco 49ers<\/a>, Detroit Lions<\/a>, Arizona Cardinals<\/a>, Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> and Las Vegas Raiders<\/a> in a special teams coaching capacity.<\/p>\n
