The opening day of racing at the 2026 Isle of Man TT has been scrapped due to weather concerns.<\/p>\n
Heavy fog blanketed the lower sections of the course on Saturday morning just as the three-lap Superstock TT was due to get underway at 11am local time.<\/p>\n
Organisers first announced an initial one-hour delay to the schedule, followed by a second one – but, with rain forecast for the afternoon meaning that they had a smaller and smaller window in which to run the race, they made the decision at 11:30am to suspend the entire day\u2019s action.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe weather has closed in,\u201d TT clerk of course Gary Thimpson announced in the paddock,\u00a0 \u201cand visibility is severely reduced from the Bungalow through to the start line.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s unlikely to lift now, and will get progressively worse in the afternoon as a band of rain is due to come through.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe decision is that today\u2019s three lap superstock race is cancelled for now. We will amend the schedule during the week, and try again tomorrow with the six-lap superbike race.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sunday\u2019s forecast looks better, with only the remnants of Saturday evening\u2019s rain due overnight before a clear day that should allow TT bosses the chance to run the race in dry conditions.<\/p>\n
