\n\tVanilla Ice<\/a> defended his decision to play Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s upcoming Freedom 250 concert<\/a>, saying he\u2019d also consider performing for Russian president Vladimir Putin<\/a> if given the opportunity. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m here to party with America, man,\u201d the rapper said in an\u00a0interview\u00a0with TMZ that was posted on Friday. \u201cMusic is made to bring people together and that\u2019s all we\u2019re here to do, man. We\u2019re just going to represent the \u201990s. I don\u2019t take anything too serious. I don\u2019t think anybody else should. I think that we should just dance. You know, it\u2019s life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and you got to get out and pursue it with dance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added, \u201cI don\u2019t think it should be about any political thing or anything like that. I don\u2019t even vote, so I don\u2019t even care.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tVanilla Ice said that if former President Joe Biden called up and asked him to perform he would. \u201cI\u2019d go play,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s not a big thing. You play for your fans, you know. We don\u2019t get a chance to pick our fans. They pick us. And I\u2019ll go play for Putin and I\u2019ll play in Iran<\/a> if you want. It don\u2019t matter. There\u2019s fans everywhere. Music is not political, man. It\u2019s universal.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tOver the past few days, five of the nine acts originally announced for Freedom 250<\/a> have dropped out, including Bret Michaels<\/a>, Young MC, Morris Day, Martina McBride<\/a>, and the Commodores. The event, officially titled the Great American State Fair, was organized by Keith Krach, a Trump appointee, and is set to be held in Washington, D.C. at the National Mall. <\/p>\n

\n\tKrach outlined his goals for Freedom 250 in a statement on\u00a0his website<\/a>. \u201cI am grateful to President Trump for the opportunity to execute his vision for Freedom 250,\u201d he wrote. \u201cAt its core, Freedom 250 is a national movement \u2014 bringing states, businesses, organizations, and citizens together to honor our history, cherish our God-given freedoms, and help build a golden age of opportunity for the next 250 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tVanilla Ice\u2019s manager, TQ Management, previously told\u00a0Rolling Stone\u00a0that the rapper is looking forward to the concert. \u201cVanilla Ice is contracted and will perform at the Great American Fair at the National Mall on Friday, June 26,\u201d the rep says. \u201cHe is proud to help celebrate America\u2019s 250th Anniversary! Everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate USA\u2019s Birthday and our Freedom!\u201d<\/p>\n
