Two homes have gone up in flames in Brisbane\u2019s<\/a> north triggering an emergency declaration and forcing residents across several streets to shelter indoors.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to Weaber Street at Clontarf about 2.15pm on Saturday after a house caught fire, with the blaze quickly spreading to a neighbouring property. <\/p>\n

At least ten fire crews are working to contain the flames, with thick smoke visible across the peninsula.<\/p>\n

Paramedics are on standby but no injuries have been reported.<\/p>\n

Queensland Police confirmed they made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to the scale of the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cA PSPA was declared about 2.10pm with the exclusion zone encompassing Watson Street, Isobel Street, Enoch Street, Gerald Avenue, Wendy Crescent, Bright Avenue and Cornelius Street,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n

Residents inside the zone have been told to remain indoors and close windows, while members of the public are urged to avoid the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cA number of roads in the area may be affected. Residents and motorists are urged to avoid the area, to drive to conditions and follow police direction,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n

Police have since revoked the PSPA as of 4.19pm on Saturday. <\/p>\n

\u201cPolice would like to thank the community for their assistance,\u201d a statement said.<\/p>\n

Firefighters remained on the scene for hours working to bring the blaze under control and protect surrounding homes. The cause of the fire is not yet known.<\/p>\n
