Chrissie Swan has opened up about the reaction to her Gold Logie nomination more than a decade ago, revealing she felt \u201ceviscerated\u201d by the backlash and likened it to being \u201cviciously\u201d torn apart.<\/p>\n
The radio presenter and TV personality received the nod in 2011 off the back of her then-hosting role on Network Ten\u2019s now-axed morning talk show, The Circle.<\/p>\n
In a new interview with the Stellar podcast Something To Talk About<\/a>, Swan revealed that she still doesn\u2019t \u201creally understand\u201d why her nomination prompted such intense blowback.<\/p>\n \u201cI think I was being eviscerated because I dared be nominated for a Gold Logie back when the public bought TV Week and filled out the [form],\u201d Swan told podcast host Sarrah Le Marquand.<\/p>\n Listen to the full interview on a new episode of Something To Talk About: <\/p>\n \u201cIt was an extraordinary honour. I couldn\u2019t believe it. And I was eviscerated for that, which I still don\u2019t really understand. Everywhere I would look, there would be me and people debating whether or not I should have been nominated for a Gold Logie.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s like, \u2018Guys, it\u2019s not up to me and it\u2019s not up to you. Sorry. It\u2019s out of our hands.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n In a rare interview, Swan addressed how she has dealt with criticism throughout her TV and radio career. <\/p>\n She noted that reading a critical article about fellow media personality Hamish Blake ultimately changed her perspective entirely.<\/p>\n \u201cI [also] remember reading a really mean article about Hamish Blake and thinking, oh God, if someone can be mean about Hamish Blake, they can be mean about anybody,\u201d Swan said.<\/p>\n Listen to the full interview on a new episode of Something To Talk About: <\/p>\n \u201cIt doesn\u2019t mean anything because Hamish Blake is heaven. <\/p>\n \u201cSo that sort of fixed it for me. I thought, well, they\u2019re just gonna write what they wanna write. It doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s true.\u201d<\/p>\n Accepting that she cannot control public perception, the Nova broadcaster remains completely unfazed by her detractors.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can\u2019t change somebody\u2019s mind.
