John Carlson<\/a> was a surprise move at the NHL trade deadline, from the Washington Capitals<\/a> to the Anaheim Ducks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, the veteran defenseman is entering free agency, and the Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> are rumored to be in the picture.<\/p>\n

There’s a lot of connecting the dots to do here, so nothing is a done deal.<\/p>\n

The first piece is that NHL insider Elliotte Friedman said that it sounds like Carlson may want to return East after being in Anaheim.<\/p>\n

Then, this report on X gained a lot of attention:<\/p>\n

It’s not clear for sure whether that’s reputable, and besides, it’s not guaranteeing anything.<\/p>\n

There’s certainly some buzz in the Flyers’ fanbase about it, though.<\/p>\n

Before the trade, Carlson had spent his entire NHL career with the Caps.<\/p>\n

The 36-year old played his first 1,143 NHL games with Washington and tallied 166 goals and 605 assists (771 points).<\/p>\n

He played 16 regular season games with Anaheim and had four goals and 10 assists.<\/p>\n

Would he really go to Philly and do battle in the Eastern Conference with the Capitals? The hockey world will find out soon enough.<\/p>\n
