A young autistic and shirtless child who spent a night lost outside in horrendous weather conditions has been rescued and reunited with his family.<\/p>\n
Norman Krakouer \u2014 who was wearing only a pair of shorts when he was went missing in Mt Claremont about 5pm Saturday \u2014 was reportedly found wandering on Davies Road about 9am Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s understood a resident took him inside and immediately contacted police.<\/p>\n
Inspector Mark Tobiassen said Norman was in good health and good condition, but was being taken to hospital for a general check-up given the conditions he had experienced outdoors for about 16 hours.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe family are so excited and have asked me to express their thanks on behalf of their family to everybody who had anything to do with the search for Norman,\u201d Insp. Tobiassen said.<\/p>\n
\u201c(Norman) was very excited and happy to be back with his family … it\u2019s a great result.\u201d<\/p>\n
Many locals had braved terrible wet and windy weather on Saturday night to join police in the frantic search for the missing 11-year-old.<\/p>\n
Police had urged the public to help and they did, joining a big contingent of officers to search the suburb with efforts concentrated around Lake Claremont throughout the night.<\/p>\n
That large-scale search continued on Sunday morning, with SES volunteers joining police on foot and horseback, as well as the continued effort from members of the public.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s believed Norman, who has difficulty communicating, went missing from near a house in Lantana Avenue.<\/p>\n
Police had said the boy was known to frequent playgrounds and climb trees.<\/p>\n
