Prototype devices find their way to leaking in a variety of different ways, such as the infamous iPhone in a bar. Now, though, there\u2019s been the finding of what appears to be a Pixel Watch 5 that was lost\u2026 in the ocean. <\/p>\n

Two hands-on images of this alleged Pixel Watch 5 (45mm) were posted on Twitter\/X<\/a> by Gearbox \u2013 the studio behind Borderlands) founder \u2013 Randy Pitchford. He explains that the smartwatch was found underwater by a friend who was \u201cscuba diving near the island of St. Martin.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPixel Watch 5\u201d is clearly printed on the bottom of the watch. <\/p>\n

The images present no obvious red flags, and Pitchford\u2019s reflection in the image adds a level of authenticity \u2013 it\u2019s unlikely he\u2019d post an edited image. <\/p>\n

As far as changes go, Watch 5\u2019s design looks identical, and we can\u2019t see anything in the software due to the device apparently having a dead battery. Having been found in the ocean, it\u2019s wild that it functions in any capacity whatsoever. Pitchford says that it still shows the correct time in the low-power state.<\/p>\n

Pixel Watch 5 is expected to launch later this year, but any changes have yet to surface. The only real expectation is Snapdragon Wear Elite, which Google has teased as \u201copens new possibilities, delivering the performance, battery life and connectivity essential for the next generation of Wear OS.\u201d Presumably, that\u2019s referring to Gemini Intelligence. <\/p>\n
