Deion Sanders has once again denied the legitimacy of rumors<\/a> connecting him to an interest in the Dallas Cowboys’ head coaching vacancy last offseason.<\/p>\n

Sanders was asked about the Cowboys rumors around the 7:55 mark of an interview with Front Office Sports’ Baker Machado on Tuesday. <\/p>\n

“They weren’t real at all,” Sanders said of the rumors. “I like playing the pro game, but I wouldn’t enjoy coaching the pro game. It’s a different game.<\/p>\n

“I’m focused on winning, and getting these kids through college so they have degrees, and they’re able to attain tremendous professions even after football is over. But I have no thought process for the NFL whatsoever.”<\/p>\n

Sanders has been denying<\/a> interest in the Cowboys job since before the NFL team parted ways with former head coach Mike McCarthy.<\/p>\n

ESPN’s Todd Archer<\/a> reported shortly after McCarthy’s departure in January 2025 that Sanders had spoken with Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones about the vacant job, but had not scheduled a formal interview.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys ultimately promoted offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to the head coaching position later that month.<\/p>\n

Sanders later referred to<\/a> the Cowboys job as “an opportunity that could’ve presented itself.”<\/p>\n

“I’m not going to say it was offered to me… We didn’t go to that level,” Sanders said in a March 2025 appearance on The Skip Bayless Show.<\/a><\/p>\n
