{"id":710968,"date":"2026-06-02T19:18:23","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T19:18:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/710968\/"},"modified":"2026-06-02T19:18:23","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T19:18:23","slug":"nrl-2026-mitch-moses-not-named-by-the-eels-as-stephen-crichton-misses-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/710968\/","title":{"rendered":"NRL 2026: Mitch Moses not named by the Eels as Stephen Crichton misses training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Blues coach Laurie Daley\u2019s plans for Origin II have been rocked with Eels star Mitch Moses not named for Monday\u2019s showdown with the Bulldogs as he continues to recover from the hamstring injury that kept him out of the series opener.<\/p>\n<p>Daley was confident that the injury wasn\u2019t serious, but the Parramatta injury report has him slated for a return in either round 15 or 16.<\/p>\n<p>The Blues team will be announced early next week which means the star playmaker won\u2019t have the chance to prove his fitness before game two on June 17, with Ethan Strange ready to keep his spot at five-eighth after being rushed into the starting side after Moses got hurt two days before the opener.<\/p>\n<p>Parramatta\u2019s opponents on Monday have named skipper Stephen Crichton despite reports he suffered a fresh shoulder injury.<\/p>\n<p>Crichton sat out Tuesday\u2019s training session but it was always the plan to give him two days off, with his Bulldogs teammates to get five days off next week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure \u2018Critta\u2019 will be sweet,\u201d teammate Jacob Kiraz said, confident his skipper will be fit for Origin selection.<\/p>\n<p>Kiraz also sat out the light session in Belmore as he and a couple of his teammates spent the afternoon on exercise bikes. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a long turnaround. We\u2019ve had a couple of big games the last couple of weeks, so probably the best thing is to (rest a bit),\u201d he said, with the powerhouse outside back in the mix to make his Origin debut.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a long week ahead and a big season, so it\u2019s probably the best decision just to leave me off the feet today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI guess it\u2019s always nice to hear (your name in the mix).
