As the fight has gotten closer, Topuria has increased his trash talk toward Gaethje, recently releasing a video of himself <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DZA2lKbGhhK\/?img_index=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">placing a white rose at the base of a Gaethje mural<\/a>, which was surrounded by similar murals of past opponents Topuria has defeated. But Gaethje is not impressed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">\u201cAll that guy is, is a gimmick,\u201d Gaethje told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com.au\/ufc\/ufc-white-house-freedom-250-justin-gaethje-brutal-dig-at-ilia-topuria-over-divorce-exwife-giorgina-uzcategu\/news-story\/fb19a02a38534324b49ff333433241fa\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fox Sports<\/a>. \u201cHe calls himself the king. He thinks he\u2019s a God. What an annoying little bastard. I couldn\u2019t imagine being in a room with him for 30 minutes listening to him talk about himself \u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">\u201cAnd I can say this: I would leave him,\u201d Gaethje added, referencing Topuria\u2019s recent divorce from his wife. \u201cThat\u2019s all I\u2019m saying. I would leave him. No way I would put up with his shit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Since winning his first UFC title, Topuria\u2019s bragadocious personality has come to the forefront as he has treated the Gaethje fight like a formality, already adjusting his social media bio to say \u201c18-0\u201d in advance of the White House card. But Gaethje isn\u2019t concerned with any of that, and notes that the man he beat earlier this year to win the interim title, Paddy Pimblett, was similarly cocky.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">\u201cYeah, look, I was young and dumb once, too,\u201d Gaethje said. \u201cAnd up until this point, it\u2019s served him well. People see the way he talks, and they believe it. Because he believes it. Which is amazing, really. But it was similar with Paddy Pimblett. He was so full of himself. And it can be so detrimental to approach life that way.
