The top-rated AFL team is here, and it’s been selected by you.

Zero Hanger’s AFL Player Rater rates the best AFL players head-to-head and shape the ultimate fan-powered AFL Player Ratings. Every vote helps determine who truly stands as the best player in the AFL by position – from defenders to forwards, midfielders and rucks.

Our system uses a proven Elo rating algorithm – the same system used in global sports rankings. All players start with the same rating, and each vote adjusts their score based on the strength of their opponent.

Beating a highly ranked player earns more points, while losing to a lower-ranked player results in a bigger drop. This creates a constantly evolving ranking system that rewards form, consistency, and performance – meaning the best AFL players rise to the top based on real fan opinion.

Want to see the results? Check out the live AFL Player Ratings to track the top-ranked players in every position.

Defenders

Brisbane dual premiership player Harris Andrews is the first cab off the rank, coming in as the No.1 rated defender in the competition.

Andrews has won, according to Zero Hanger’s AFL Player Ratings 80.64 percent of his matchups for a total of 2284.6 ratings points.

Following shortly behind is Giant Sam Taylor, who despite only returning to the field last weekend for the first time, is favoured among those who vote.

Sydney’s Nick Blakey, St Kilda’s Callum Wilkie, Geelong’s Tom Stewart and Taylor’s teammate Lachie Whitfield round out the six defenders.

The selected six are the only defenders who have a ratings points over 2000.

FB: Tom Stewart, Harris Andrews, Callum Wilkie
