With Josh Jacobs\u2019 status in limbo due to his recent arrest<\/a>, the Green Bay Packers<\/a> may be in need of a new starting running back. If that is the case, MarShawn Lloyd wants to prove he can be that guy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lloyd\u2019s Packers career has been marred by injury. Which is why he is entering the 2026 season with a chip on his shoulder<\/a>, via Dominique Yates of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited to prove the ones that are excited right and the ones that are not excited, I\u2019m going to prove them wrong,\u201d Lloyd said. \u201cIf I want to change that narrative, prove it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lloyd entered the league as a third-round draft pick of the Packers in 2024. He made it into just one game as a rookie, rushing six times for 15 yards. The running back then missed the entire 2025 season as he dealt with a litany of soft tissue injuries.<\/p>\n

The Packers have committed to not trading for a running back<\/a>, as long as Jacobs\u2019 legal situation plays out. That means that the spotlight is now on Lloyd to prove he can handle a bigger role. Green Bay<\/a> clearly thought he was capable when they drafted him in the third-round. His work throughout the offseason program will show if they\u2019re correct three years later.<\/p>\n

Lloyd\u2019s first order of business is simply staying on the field. If he can stay healthy, he\u2019ll have an opportunity to carve out a role in Green Bay. The running back must prove he can be a true asset sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n
