{"id":713148,"date":"2026-06-03T18:49:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T18:49:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/713148\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T18:49:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T18:49:15","slug":"tropical-storm-jangmi-batters-japan-cuts-power-to-60000-homes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/713148\/","title":{"rendered":"Tropical storm Jangmi batters Japan, cuts power to 60,000 homes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TOKYO: Severe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelnewsasia.com\/east-asia\/japan-jangmi-tropical-storm-injures-people-6155476\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tropical storm Jangmi<\/a> ripped across Japan on Wednesday (Jun 3), with fierce winds and torrential rain disrupting transport and businesses, and knocking out power for tens of thousands of homes.<\/p>\n<p>The storm&#8217;s centre lay about 150km south of Tokyo as of early Wednesday afternoon, moving northeast with maximum sustained winds of up to 25m per second, Japan&#8217;s Meteorological Agency said. The storm is set to pass very close to the Pacific side of eastern Japan and heightened vigilance is needed, the agency added.<\/p>\n<p>At least 15 people have sustained minor injuries, according to authorities.
