{"id":713518,"date":"2026-06-03T22:55:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T22:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/713518\/"},"modified":"2026-06-03T22:55:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T22:55:11","slug":"trent-williams-discusses-nfl-retirement-plans-after-signing-49ers-contract-extension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/713518\/","title":{"rendered":"Trent Williams Discusses NFL Retirement Plans After Signing 49ers Contract Extension"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams, who signed a <a class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-inherit MuiLink-root MuiLink-underlineAlways MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__ui__link__medium_strong css-lu48cp\" href=\"https:\/\/overthecap.com\/player\/trent-williams\/1466\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">two-year, $50 million contract<\/a> that runs through 2027, said that his deal will likely be his last in the league.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">David Lombardi of the The San Francisco Standard relayed Williams&#8217; remarks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Williams is a 12-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro who has played 15 NFL seasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Williams, who will be 38 when the season begins, has been a massive part of the team&#8217;s success since the 49ers acquired him from Washington in April 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Since then, the 49ers have made four postseasons, three NFC Championship Games and one Super Bowl.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">It&#8217;s understandable why Williams will perhaps look to end his assured Pro Football Hall of Fame career in a couple years considering his stated desire to be around his family more plus the length of his NFL tenure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">In the meantime, though, Williams is still an invaluable member of the 49ers&#8217; offense. San Francisco is coming off a 12-5 season that ended in the NFC Divisional round despite a host of injuries on both sides of the ball, including season-enders to defensive stars Nick Bosa and Fred Warner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">A healthier season could certainly go a long way toward the 49ers returning to the Super Bowl.
