Mitchell Robinson is officially active for Wednesday’s NBA Finals opener after suffering a mysterious hand injury ahead of the series, the team announced. <\/p>\n

ESPN’s Shams Charania initially reported Wednesday that Robinson was expected to be available. <\/p>\n

Charania previously reported Robinson hurt his pinky finger “at his own home” ahead of the Finals. <\/p>\n

“But how did this all happen during the Knicks’ off week?” Charania said Tuesday on NBA Today. “The details are murky. What I can say, what I do know, is that Mitchell Robinson hurt himself at his own home.”<\/p>\n

Robinson, who suffered a broken right pinky finger<\/a>, arrived at practice on Tuesday without anything on his right hand ahead of Wednesday’s Game 1 of the NBA Finals at the San Antonio Spurs, per Jared Schwartz of the New York Post.<\/p>\n

In 60 games (16 starts) this season, Robinson averaged 5.7 points on 72.3 percent shooting, 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 19.6 minutes per contest.<\/p>\n

His presence is crucial for the Knicks as they search for their first NBA title since 1973.
