{"id":714133,"date":"2026-06-04T05:48:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T05:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/714133\/"},"modified":"2026-06-04T05:48:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T05:48:14","slug":"blast-from-the-past-set-for-a-comeback","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/714133\/","title":{"rendered":"Blast from the past set for a comeback"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IT was a common sight at the start of the Bathurst 1000 \u2013 the launch of hot air balloons over a race track, and at the upcoming Winton Festival of Speed, it\u2019s set to make a comeback.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration with Goldrush Ballooning will enable paying attendees to take part in hot air balloon rides departing from the Winton Motor Raceway skidpan.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The flights will kick off at 6:30am on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the event, which is scheduled for July 24-26.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-issue-4?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/sleuth-mag-04_9e8e35e7-2237-44e2-a0d0-d906a6f0e0b6_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Balloons departing from Winton will accompany a group of balloons taking off from nearby Benalla, touring a region renowned for its vibrant ballooning culture.<\/p>\n<p>Bringing balloons back to motorsport is the latest in an array of off-track attractions that are setting the Festival apart, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/local-institution-gets-behind-winton-festival-of-speed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">including the support of local institution Brown Brothers Wines.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/goldrushballooning.rezdy.com\/766368\/festival-of-speed-balloon-flight-winton-motor-raceway\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tickets are available now via the Goldrush Ballooning booking page on the website.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On track, categories will include Heritage Touring Cars (Groups C &amp;
