I spoke to security. You’re reading way too much into that.

“Of course they do (have words to say), they’re nuffies! But that’s okay.

“This is one of the best stadiums in the world, I love it. (But) it’s an oversight that the coaches should have to walk through the crowd. I don’t want to do it at any ground.”

While evidently disappointed with his side’s loss away from home, Scott didn’t feel the defining moments came late, and instead more so with missed opportunities earlier on.

“I don’t think it was won or lost in the last few minutes. We had our chances to win it, and we were a little bit disappointed with our execution late,” Scott said.

“It was quite impressive really to give ourselves a chance to win the game. It’s disappointing, because for the majority of the game we felt we were in it, but certainly in a lot of key areas we were well on top and weren’t able to capitalise.

“We had some positives. I don’t know if this is the right way to think about it, but a way to think about it is: ‘Losing to the Crows at the Adelaide Oval isn’t a game lost to the competition’.

“Most teams are going to struggle in that game. In a way, it would have been a game won to the rest of the competition.”

Former Crow and Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield was phenomenal in the first half, particularly before quarter time with 12 disposals, 10 contested possessions and a goal.

It saw him start the match at the very first centre ball-up, in a rare sight this year given the 36-year-old’s management of injuries leading into Round 6.

Vintage Danger dominates 1st half | 01:24

“Dangerfield was as good as he’s been all year and looking more like himself … This is something that wasn’t really available five or six weeks ago, and we feel like we’ve been building towards it a little bit more,” Scott revealed.

“It’s not a matter of setting out a macro plan and sticking to it no matter what. He’s going to have some ebbs and flows … but he definitely showed he’s still got it, didn’t he?

“He basically missed 10 weeks of training; or certainly playing. He actually had a pretty good pre-season, but was then interrupted for a long period of time.”

Chris Scott added on his captain’s teammates: “That’s as well as I’ve seen De Koning play through the middle. We brought a couple of guys in who had been playing well at the lower levels, they played well (Jack) Bowes and (Oli) Wiltshire.

“We weren’t quite good enough to get it done against a good team … we feel like the game was there for us to win, and we didn’t quite grab it.”

Geelong face a tough pair of matches ahead of their Round 16 bye, taking on Gold Coast next Friday night before a six-day turnaround and trip west to face ladder leaders Fremantle.

Geelong coach Chris Scott believes it is an “oversight” from the AFL to have coaches walking among supporters…

[560
9126,638,64,63,689,55,639,309494,12923,347110,106375,2485,347109,163590,12094,347112,54908,677,39209,347111,668,701,32913,85,14379,347113,13155,85776
post-714965","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-afl","tag-adelaide-crows","tag-afl","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-australia-and-new-zealand","tag-australian-football-league","tag-australianfootballleague","tag-centre-ball-up","tag-chris-scott","tag-crowd-interaction","tag-defining-moments","tag-gold-coast","tag-heated-fan-interaction","tag-instant-classic","tag-ladder-leaders","tag-macro-plan","tag-mid-season-bye","tag-oceania","tag-patrick-dangerfield","tag-point-victory","tag-press-conference","tag-queensland","tag-receiving-end","tag-sports","tag-three-quarter-time","tag-three-quarter-time-incident","tag-thrilling-one-point-loss","tag-two-time-premiership-coach
["GET
