{"id":715565,"date":"2026-06-04T21:54:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T21:54:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/715565\/"},"modified":"2026-06-04T21:54:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T21:54:09","slug":"carlos-sainz-bemoans-disregard-of-f1-drivers-crucial-monaco-gp-suggestion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/715565\/","title":{"rendered":"Carlos Sainz bemoans disregard of F1 drivers&#8217; crucial Monaco GP suggestion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carlos Sainz has complained that a consistent suggestion from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/series\/single-seater\/formula-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula 1<\/a> drivers to change the formatting of qualifying for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/en\/racing\/2026\/monaco\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Monaco Grand Prix<\/a> has been ignored over multiple seasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The famous street circuit is undoubtedly a unique challenge for those in the sport, with its tight and twisty layout proving to be one that must be tackled expertly in qualifying to ensure a positive race finish.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to the link between the two, pole in Monaco on Saturday is often regarded as about as important as the race win on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But with two extra cars on the grid this year in the form of the new Cadillac outfit, the difficulty of encountering traffic during qualifying is never far away when on a quick lap.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sainz, speaking ahead of this weekend\u2019s race in the principality, reiterated his bafflement that a rejigging of the format has not been implemented.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYeah, I still don\u2019t understand why we don\u2019t do split groups in Q1,\u201d the Williams driver told media, including Motorsport Week, bringing to mind a half-and-half system, similar to Formula E\u2019s Groups A and B.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/F1-Monaco-GP-qualifying-1024x576.webp\" alt=\"Qualifying on the streets of Monaco comes with its own challenge\" class=\"wp-image-247627\"  \/>Qualifying on the streets of Monaco comes with its own challenge<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve suggested it multiple times.
