\nThe NSW Optimist Association, in partnership with Woollahra Sailing Club, is proud to announce the 2026 East Coast Championships (ECC), to be held on the spectacular waters of Sydney Harbour over the King’s Birthday Long Weekend from Saturday 6 June to Monday 8 June 2026. \n<\/p>\n


\nThe three-day regatta will attract some of Australia’s most talented junior and youth sailors, with competitors racing across the following fleets: \n<\/p>\n

Hosted from Woollahra Sailing Club in Rose Bay, competitors will enjoy world-class racing conditions on one of the world’s most iconic sailing venues. The event will feature multiple race courses across the harbour, providing exciting and competitive racing for sailors of all ages and experience levels on traditional windward-leeward courses.<\/p>\n


\nThe 2026 East Coast Championships also marks a significant milestone for Australian dinghy sailing. With 156 boats entered across seven fleets and more than 300 between competitors, family members, coaches, officials and spectators expected to attend, the regatta represents one of the largest junior and youth sailing events held in Sydney in recent years. Following the cessation of Sail Sydney’s dinghy racing program, opportunities for competition of this scale on Sydney Harbour have been limited, making the East Coast Championships a significant addition to the Australian sailing calendar. The event demonstrates the strength of community sailing and the commitment of volunteers, clubs and class associations to delivering high-quality racing opportunities for young sailors. \n<\/p>\n


\nRepresentatives of the NSW Optimist Association said the event highlights the importance of fostering participation pathways from introductory Green Fleet sailing through to high-performance youth classes. \n<\/p>\n


\n“The East Coast Championships provide a unique opportunity for sailors from across Australia’s junior and youth sailing community to come together in a premier regatta environment. The event showcases the depth of talent within the sport while creating an exciting championship experience for competitors, families and supporters alike.” \n<\/p>\n


\nThe regatta is expected to generate significant activity both on and off the water throughout the long weekend, bringing together sailors, families, volunteers and supporters from across the country to celebrate youth sailing in one of Australia’s premier sailing venues. \n<\/p>\n
