The Tasmania JackJumpers announced on Friday the return of import David Johnson on a one-year contract.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old sharpshooter from Louisville, Kentucky, had a strong debut season with the JackJumpers, helping his side reach the post-season.<\/p>\n

Tasmania JackJumpers Coach Scott Roth said he was delighted gto have Johnson return.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s shown a lot of promise at the end of the season,\u201d Roth said.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, he had a slow start with injury, and finding his way in his first experience of being overseas.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, we know he has a lot of growth ahead of him.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe love his ability to shoot the ball, he\u2019s becoming more dynamic in the pick and roll, and can be one of our better defenders also.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe gives us really good versatility in the wing spot, and some good size. His upside is what excites us most about him.\u201d<\/p>\n

General Manager of Basketball Operations Darren Smith said having the continuity of a returning import was valuable to the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou build a lot of trust in a year, and now we can really build on that among the playing group and coaches too,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve only just started to scratch the surface on his potential.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were multiple games where he was our leading scorer. He can shoot really, really well, and he\u2019s aggressive at getting to the basket.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe firmly believe he has another gear to go to, and that\u2019s so exciting for us and the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnson joins Taran Armstrong, Will Magnay, Josh Bannan, Nick Marshall, Ben Ayre and Archie Woodhill on the Hungry Jack\u2019s NBL27 Season.<\/p>\n
