CARY, N.C. \u2013 USA Baseball today announced the roster for the 2026 Women\u2019s National Team Training Camp. Forty women hailing from 20 different states will convene from June 11-15 in North Carolina and compete in a five-day long Training Camp that will conclude with the naming of a final 20-player roster.<\/p>\n
The selection process will consist of a series of workouts, practices, and intrasquad scrimmages held at various venues across the eastern part of North Carolina, including the National Training Complex in Cary, Jack Coombs Field in Durham, and Segra Stadium in Fayetteville.<\/p>\n
Following the conclusion of Training Camp on June 15, the final Women\u2019s National Team roster will reconvene in Chicago, Illinois, from July 16-20 for Training before traveling to Rockford, Illinois, for the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women\u2019s Baseball World Cup Group Stage from July 22-26. This will be the first step in the program\u2019s ultimate quest for a gold medal in 2027, as it will look to earn a spot in next year\u2019s World Cup Finals, which will also be held in Rockford.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very excited to welcome these forty players to Training Camp next week,\u201d said Women\u2019s National Team Program Director Makenzie Kelly. \u201cThese players will have the opportunity to continue to learn from some of the best as we set our sights on earning a spot in next year\u2019s World Cup Finals. This year\u2019s roster features some of the best women\u2019s baseball players in the nation, and we anticipate a very competitive five days on the field.\u201d<\/p>\n
Among the 40 women on the Training Camp roster, 23 are Women\u2019s National Team alumni. This year\u2019s roster is highlighted by 12-time alum Anna Kimbrell, who owns the Team USA record for most appearances on a national team, nine-time alums Meggie Meidlinger and Kelsie Whitmore, and five-time alums Alex Hugo, Kylee Lahners, and Ashton Lansdell.<\/p>\n
Along with the national team alumni coming to Training Camp, 13 other players have participated in past Women\u2019s National Team programming, including the Women\u2019s National Team Training Camp, Women\u2019s National Team Development Program, Women\u2019s National Open, and the 2021 Girls\u2019 Camp. Twenty-five of them attended last year\u2019s Women\u2019s National Team Development Program, which was an identification event for this year\u2019s Training Camp.<\/p>\n
The roster also features four newcomers to USA Baseball\u2019s Women\u2019s National Team Program: Madison Erickson, McKenna Huff, Valentina Smith, and Addy Wilson.<\/p>\n
Additionally, 25 players on the roster have attended a past girls\u2019 development event jointly hosted in partnership with Major League Baseball, including the Trailblazer Series, Elite Development Invitational (EDI), Breakthrough Series, and MLB GRIT: Girls ID Tour.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s coaching staff will be led by 2000 Olympic gold medalist Mike Kinkade, and he will be joined by five-time national team gold medalist coaches Jason Sekany and Tanner Vesely along with three-time Women\u2019s National Team medalist Kristin Caldwell. Kinkade will be making his managerial debut, Sekany will serve as pitching coach, while Vesely and Caldwell will join as assistant coaches. The staff owns a combined 12 gold medals with USA Baseball as players and\/or coaches.<\/p>\n
During Training Camp, the coaching staff will be joined by past USA Baseball national team coaches Rick Eckstein, Bryan Madsen, and Jack Wilson, Women\u2019s National Team alum Ronnie Gajownik, along with Karavin Dew, Sam Freeman, Matt Frisbee, and Calvin Pickering, who all have extensive knowledge across all levels of the game.<\/p>\n
Along with the 25 players who have attended a past girls\u2019 development event, Dew, Eckstein, Gajownik, Kinkade, and Pickering have all been heavily devoted to growing the game and spend time on a year-round basis coaching at MLB Develops boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 events. Ten Women\u2019s National Team alumni have also served as coaches at past events: Denae Benites, Amanda Gianelloni, Beth Greenwood, Hugo, Alexia Jorge, Kimbrell, Lahners, Meidlinger, Valerie Perez, and Whitmore.<\/p>\n
