The NFL<\/a> has learned that one of their historic franchises will officially have a new home.\u00a0 The bombshell news surfaced on Friday morning and has gone viral throughout the league.\u00a0 The NFL has not seen a team move locations since 2020 (the Raiders<\/a> to Las Vegas<\/a>) and 2016 (the Rams<\/a> to Los Angeles<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Now, there will be third team moving.\u00a0 Here are the details.<\/p>\n

NFL Franchise To Move To New State<\/p>\n

It appears the Chicago Bears<\/a> have taken a massive step toward moving across state lines.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, the Bears\u2019 board of directors approved a potential stadium for Hammond, Indiana, at a location to be determined. Now it is turning into reality<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe a world-class stadium project in Hammond will transform the region, connecting Northwest Indiana to the South Side of Chicago<\/a> through the Loop and across neighborhoods and suburbs stretching north of the city,\u201d Bears chairman George H. McCaskey and team president and CEO Kevin Warren said in a statement. \u201cIt will bring Chicagoland together and deliver new opportunities to its residents and businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, the Bears said they are still working on deciding between Hammond and Arlington Heights, Illinois, where they own a 326-acre property.<\/p>\n

In June 1, Illinois lawmakers adjourned for the spring session without taking up a measure passed by the state senate. That would have created local stadium authorities which could have boosted Arlington Heights\u2019 prospects.\u00a0 \u00a0It was announced in May that the Bears would not be staying in the city of Chicago:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Chicago Bears have exhausted every opportunity to stay in Chicago, which was our initial goal,\u201d the team said in a statement. \u201cThere is not a viable site in the city. As a result, the only sites under consideration are in Arlington Heights and Hammond.\u201d<\/p>\n

An Indiana legislative committee voted in February to establish a Northwest Indiana Stadium Authority. This was to facilitate the financing and construction of a domical stadium in Northwest Indiana.<\/p>\n

Several efforts have been made since then to entice the franchise to relocate to Indiana.<\/p>\n
