Whilst some of those in South-East Queensland felt the ground shake this morning \u2013 Tasmanians felt their own tremors (of a different kind) in the afternoon of Saturday 16th August 2025 \u2026 as captured in an ez2view<\/a> \u2018Notifications\u2019 widget alert as shown here at 14:11 (NEM time<\/a>):<\/p>\n

This 292MW drop in \u2018Market Demand<\/a>\u2019 to the 14:15 dispatch interval can be seen in this snapshot from NEMwatch<\/a> for the 14:15 dispatch interval:<\/p>\n

That\u2019s enormous, in relation to the size of the Tasmanian regional \u2018Market Demand<\/a>\u2019!<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget about FCAS!<\/p>\n

Reflecting the admonition from Allan O\u2019Neil<\/a>\u00a0 back in February 2020 with relation to another system event, here\u2019s three consecutive dispatch intervals of the \u2018NEM Prices\u2019 widget in ez2view<\/a> (i.e. 14:10, 14:15 and 14:20) showing some wild gyrations in FCAS<\/a> prices as a result of the loss of ~30% of the \u2018Market Demand<\/a>\u2019 in the Tasmanian region.<\/p>\n
