Australia\u2019s ski season has begun thanks to a snowfall 20-40cm across NSW and Victoria\u2019s alpine regions.<\/p>\n
Perisher recorded 30cm of snowfall over the past week with the natural snow depth of 22cm being supplemented by artificial snow in certain areas.<\/p>\n
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting sunny conditions for the Perisher Valley low of -5 and a high of 9 on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Thredbo had less luck over the past week, with only 13cm of snowfall, though multiple runs are open on the mountain.<\/p>\n
In Victoria, Mt Hotham received 31cm of snowfall over the past week and Mountain Watch is forecasting \u201cflurries\u201d of snow on Sunday, with a low of -3 and a top of 5 degrees.<\/p>\n
Similar conditions are forecast for Mt Buller, which received 25cm of snow over the past week.<\/p>\n
Mt Buller communications manager Rhylla Morgan said they were supplementing this with manmade snow.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had some beautiful snowfall this week, 25cm at Buller\u2026 and of course we’ve been making plenty of snow as well to make sure that people can ski, as they are enjoying right now,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
As of Saturday evening, Mt Buller\u2019s had made 63cm of snow to supplement the natural falls. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The start of the season comes despite fears the expected El Nino declaration would lead to a poor season.<\/p>\n
