Remove items from your saved list<\/a> to add more.<\/p>\n AAA<\/p>\n Wests Tigers fans started heading for the CommBank Stadium exits on Sunday with 20 minutes remaining in the match.<\/p>\n But it\u2019s a wonder they didn\u2019t leave at half-time, when they booed their team off the field.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m actually surprised they [the fans] stuck around as long as they did today because it was clear to me from the start we weren\u2019t there,\u201d Tigers coach Benji Marshall said.<\/p>\n A Nathan Cleary-inspired Penrith annihilated the Tigers 68-0 \u2013 the club\u2019s biggest win in their 58-year history, topping the 72-12 hammering of Manly in 2004.<\/p>\n It was the third-biggest blowout in NRL history (see table below).<\/p>\n Cleary and the Panthers are on another planet at the moment. TV commentators joked about calling off the Dally M race in June and handing it to the game\u2019s best halfback.<\/p>\n They are too disciplined, too fast, too strong and too classy. They\u2019re a joy to watch and will be there on grand final day. A fifth title in six years? Stop the fight.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Then you have the Tigers.<\/p>\n Even the most rusted-on Tigers supporters knew it would have been a miracle to upset the competition leaders and premiership favourites.<\/p>\n But they would have expected more fight from a club that promised so much only a couple of months ago.<\/p>\n The Tigers\u2019 handling in the early exchanges was atrocious. Fonua Pole knocked on deep in his own half, so did Charlie Murray. Defensively, fellow forwards Royce Hunt and Terrell May produced some shocking reads on Cleary.<\/p>\n Heamasi Makasini spilled a simple pass from Jarome Luai right on half-time and was beaten for pace by Paul Alamoti at the start of the game when Penrith started the scoring.<\/p>\n Sunia Turuva forced a pass that went forward and into touch, and Luai came up with a stinker that led directly to Brian To\u2019o\u2019s first try.<\/p>\n The Tigers were lucky to only trail 36-0 at the break after To\u2019o was denied another four-pointer. Cleary\u2019s final pass was ruled forward, even though the touch judge in line with play kept his flag down.<\/p>\n To cap a nightmare outing, Pole, Alex Seyfarth and Mavrik Geyer were all put on report, Hunt suffered a serious pec injury, and Jock Madden failed to finish the game because of an arm injury.<\/p>\n Marshall did well to keep his cool while watching the horror show from the sideline. However, he did not miss his players with a scathing post-match take-down.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t usually apologise to our fans and members, but that performance was just unacceptable in terms of what we expect, and the way we want to perform.<\/p>\n \u201cWe need to take accountability for that \u2013 us, we, me \u2013 figure out why it happened and make sure it doesn\u2019t happen again next week.<\/p>\n \u201cI get we were playing the top team in the league, but there are some things there you just can\u2019t accept.<\/p>\n \u201cEverything in our game we could possibly get wrong we got wrong.<\/p>\n \u201cWe gifted them field position with errors at the start, we didn\u2019t defend them, just fundamentals of the game.<\/p>\n \u201cIt looks like with the scoreline we\u2019re not trying.<\/p>\n \u201cThe point is we\u2019re so dumb with the ball, we can\u2019t defend our errors, we\u2019re tackling so much, then we get brain dead, and we can\u2019t compete.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s disappointing and actually embarrassing.<\/p>\n![\"Jarome](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/8aeb951176f64f159790cd9d3930e1ab42904f82.jpeg\")
