So, when Tan made a public keynote speech last week at Computex, an annual trade show in Taipei that has grown in popularity because of the AI boom, a packed crowd was on hand to hear him talk.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmq3y7mcn00063b6re6js6q22@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The crowd had likely gathered to learn more about Intel\u2019s core product \u2014 the central processing unit, or CPU \u2014 a chip that acts as the brain of a computer. He has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intc.com\/news-events\/press-releases\/detail\/1736\/intel-announces-strategic-investment-by-silver-lake-in?ref=biztoc.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">sold Intel\u2019s controlling stake in a subsidiary<\/a> in exchange for liquidity and hired senior executives from <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.intel.com\/corporate\/intel-client-computing-and-innovation-leadership-news-may-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Qualcomm<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.intel.com\/corporate\/intel-announces-key-leadership-appointments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Arm<\/a> to lead its data center and AI business divisions. Tan has also brought in investments from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/09\/18\/tech\/nvidia-intel-stake-ai-intl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nvidia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/08\/18\/business\/softbank-invest-intel-two-billion-dollars\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Softbank<\/a>, securing strategic backing and partnerships from influential players in the AI industry.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmq3y7mco000m3b6rwsr8i9co@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cTan has been trying to bring in more outside resources into Intel, so that the company has the time and space to not only adjust its chip-manufacturing process, but also bring in more clients to drive the production volume up,\u201d Chiayang Yao, an analyst with Taiwanese market research firm Digitimes Research, told CNN.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmq3y7mco000n3b6rro8sl70x@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Meanwhile, Intel has received a helping hand from the Trump administration.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-elevate inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph_elevate\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmq3yoslr00143b6r48q4tj7w@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            In August, the US government made an $8.9 billion investment in Intel\u2019s stock, roughly a 10% stake in the company, to help its ongoing efforts to expand research and manufacturing facilities in the US, while ensuring access to a domestic advanced-chip supply chain for national security purposes.
