Actress, comedian and producer Awkwafina (The Farewell) has joined the cast as Chessy the Cat. Disney also unveiled a new teaser trailer for the latest installment of the successful Descendants franchise, which premieres Thursday, July 16 on <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/disney-channel\/\" id=\"auto-tag_disney-channel\" data-tag=\"disney-channel\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Disney Channel<\/a> and next day on <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/disney-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_disney-2\" data-tag=\"disney-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Disney+<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDescendants: Wicked Wonderland is the follow-up to the 2024 hit film\u00a0Descendants: The Rise of Red, which follows the time-traveling adventures of Red (Kylie Cantrell) and Chloe (Malia Baker). Set primarily in present-day Wonderland with a host of new and familiar characters, Wicked Wonderland delves into the warning from the previous movie: There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe teaser follows Red and Chloe as they\u2019re pulled into the shifting dynamics of the new characters and uncover unexpected alliances and hidden threats. As loyalties blur, the two are forced to face who stands with them and against them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tPer the logline: Now that the Queen of Hearts is nice and Cinderella is safe, things seem perfect for Red and Chloe \u2026 but little do they know that changing the past created a new villain: Maddox Hatter. When Maddox captures the Queen of Hearts, Red and Chloe must work with Red\u2019s new sister Pink, Luisa Madrigal\u2019s son Luis, Captain Hook\u2019s daughter Hazel, and Maddox\u2019s son Max to save her and Wonderland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn addition to Cantrell and Baker, reprising their roles are\u00a0Leonardo Nam\u00a0(Maddox Hatter), Melanie Paxson\u00a0(Fairy Godmother), Paolo Montalban\u00a0(King Charming), with\u00a0Rita Ora\u00a0(the Queen of Hearts) and\u00a0Brandy\u00a0(Cinderella).\u00a0New to the cast are\u00a0Liamani Segura\u00a0(Pink),\u00a0Brendon Tremblay\u00a0(Max Hatter),\u00a0Alexandro Byrd\u00a0(Luis Madrigal), Kiara Romero\u00a0(Hazel Hook), Joel Oulette\u00a0(Robbie Hood), Zavien Garrett\u00a0(Felix Facilier), Ryan McEwen\u00a0(Squirmy Smee)\u00a0and\u00a0Dayton Paradis\u00a0(Squeaky Smee).\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Kimmy Gatewood (Muppets Mayhem) directs with a script by co-executive producer Tamara Chestna (Sneakerella) with Dan Frey and Ru Sommer (Descendants: The Rise of Red).\u00a0Returning to the franchise are executive producers Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh. Gatewood also serves as co-executive producer.
