{"id":723921,"date":"2026-06-08T22:46:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T22:46:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/723921\/"},"modified":"2026-06-08T22:46:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T22:46:15","slug":"blanchard-racing-team-buys-supercar-from-todd-hazelwood-sandown-2017-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/723921\/","title":{"rendered":"Blanchard Racing Team buys Supercar from Todd Hazelwood Sandown 2017 crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Supercar involved in a shocking Sandown 500 crash has found a new home.<\/p>\n<p>Chassis BJR 005 was the CoolDrive Commodore in which Tim Blanchard and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-1174-Todd-Hazelwood\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Todd Hazelwood<\/a> entered the 2017 Enduro Cup opener, only for the latter to be tipped into a high-speed flip following contact with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-25-Jonathon-Webb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jonathon Webb<\/a> in the co-driver qualifying race.<\/p>\n<p>The car was subsequently withdrawn and never raced again.<\/p>\n<p>It was instead repurposed as a simulator frame by then Brad Jones Racing engineer Tony Woodward, who this year joined the Blanchard Racing Team.<\/p>\n<p>Woodward\u2019s relocation to Melbourne opened the door for a changing of the guard for BJR 005.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTony moved house and Tim decided that he wanted to buy that car back,\u201d BRT manager Kate Harrington told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/BJR-005-chassis-simulator-CoolDrive-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-256960\"  \/>The repurposed BJR 005 chassis at the Blanchard Racing Team\u2019s Box Hill base.
