SUPERCARS will introduce a rule for next week\u2019s Darwin Triple Crown aimed at more deeply scrutinising each manufacturer\u2019s fuel consumption rates.<\/p>\n

Fuel economy was a hot topic at last month\u2019s Tasmania Super440, where Supercars increased the length of its Sunday race from 78 laps to 84 and likewise the number of compulsory pitstops from two to three.<\/p>\n

Those modifications were made with fuel consumption parity in mind, amid concerns that Chevrolet entries would face more of a struggle than their Ford counterparts.<\/p>\n

Supercars\u2019 move to a 100 percent renewable fuel blend for 2026 has come with higher burn rates across the board.<\/p>\n

That was exacerbated at Symmons Plains, a circuit which features a higher-than-normal full-throttle percentage.<\/p>\n

Any disparity in fuel economy can be a double whammy, requiring more driver conservation on-track and more time in pitlane topping up the tank.<\/p>\n

The Undercut is back, breaking down the latest happenings in the world of Supercars racing!<\/p>\n

That\u2019s even more decisive come enduro season, prompting Supercars to now implement the following directive:<\/p>\n

\u201cIn each Race a refuelling Churn is used, Teams are required to advise Supercars of the weight of fuel transferred to the Car in each Pit Stop via direct message on the Supercars Teams App, within 5 laps of the completed Pit Stop.\u201d<\/p>\n

The memo explains that the regulation is \u201cto assist Supercars calculate fuel being used by all cars\u201d.<\/p>\n

Churns are in use at all Sprint Cup rounds, with refuelling towers brought out for the Enduro Cup and Finals Series.<\/p>\n

Supercars will hold three races in Darwin: a 35-lap dash on Friday June 19, then a 70-lapper on each of the following two days.<\/p>\n
