But there he was late, after a lengthy weather delay pushed the final few holes up against darkness. The Alabama native birdied the 36th and final hole to sneak to 11-under total and grab the last of the five spots offered at the Georgia site. Kyes shot 67-66.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019ll be heading to Shinnecock Hills next week to play in his first major championship.<\/p>\n<p>  <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GolfChannel\/status\/2064150446772547726?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/GolfChannel\/status\/2064150446772547726?s=20<\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>But \u2026 in this interview on Golf Channel, where you can clearly see his laid-back vibe, you\u2019ll notice one funny detail, among others. Kyes wasn\u2019t aware that the U.S. Open was coming up so soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t know it was next week,\u201d he said, without a hint of jest. \u201cI don\u2019t even know man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Well, Chase, you do now.
