Jennifer Lopez has recalled sitting with her father as tears were \u201cgushing down\u201d her face amid a low point during her divorce from Ben Affleck.<\/p>\n
The actress spoke candidly about the challenging period during an interview with her Office Romance co-star Brett Goldstein on his podcast, Films To Be Buried With<\/a>, this week.<\/p>\n Describing the film that \u201cchanged [her] perspective\u201d and made her \u201csee the world in a new way\u201d, Lopez, 56, highlighted the Oscar-winning Brazilian biopic, I\u2019m Still Here, which she watched with her father just months after her 2024 split from Affleck.<\/p>\n \u201cA couple years ago, I got really sick around Christmas time. My family was in town. My dad, my mum, my cousin, everybody,\u201d she told Goldstein, adding that her father [David] had agreed to watch the movie with her.<\/p>\n \u201cI think because I was sick. And at that time of my life, I was going through a divorce and thinking a lot about my kids,\u201d Lopez said.<\/p>\n \u201cAs you do when something like that happens in your life, [we watched a movie].<\/p>\n \u201cMy dad was sitting there and something happened in my head and I just started crying, where I started calculating all of the things with my kids, my experience with my dad, like everything happened just all at once.<\/p>\n \u201cMy whole family knew I was going through a hard time \u2026 He turns around and he sees my face. I was trying to cry quietly \u2014 when you try to cry quietly, then it\u2019s like all the tears, it\u2019s like water gushing down my face.\u201d<\/p>\n After her father asked what was wrong, the pair shared a sweet moment, which Lopez said helped \u201cheal\u201d her.<\/p>\n \u201c[It] healed a part of me that needed to be healed to kind of move on from that part of my life and from those types of relationships in my life. So that movie changed me and helped me grow,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in August 2024, following reports they\u2019d quietly split earlier that year.<\/p>\n The couple had ended their first engagement in 2004 but reunited in 2021 to give it another shot, and got married a year later.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, rumours are currently swirling that Lopez and Goldstein, 45, enjoyed a brief fling<\/a> after filming Office Romance together, which has just been released.<\/p>\n
