Image: Formula 1<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/t.cfjump.com\/92797\/b\/287093\" rel=\"nofollow sponsored noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"https:\/\/t.cfjump.com\/92797\/a\/287093\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Italian company had already been locked in as F1\u2019s sole tyre supplier from 2025 to 2027 <a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/pirelli-new-f1-tyre-supplier-contract-2027\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">under a deal agreed in 2023<\/a>, with the FIA, Formula One Management and Pirelli now agreeing to take up the additional one-year option.<\/p>\n<p>The extension means Pirelli will continue to supply tyres to the FIA Formula One World Championship, as well as Formula 2, Formula 3 and F1 Academy, through to the end of the 2028 season.<\/p>\n<p>Pirelli has been F1\u2019s exclusive tyre supplier since 2011, having taken over from Bridgestone, while its wider involvement in the world championship dates back to the inaugural season in 1950.<\/p>\n<p>FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem said the extension would give the championship continuity as F1 continues into its current rules cycle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPirelli has been an important partner to the FIA Formula One World Championship for many years, providing a consistently high standard of performance, innovation, and safety at the highest level of our sport,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis extension through to the end of 2028 provides stability for the championship and reflects the strong collaboration between the FIA, Formula One Group and Pirelli.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>F1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali also welcomed the continuation of the partnership, pointing to Pirelli\u2019s role in the sport\u2019s technical direction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve enjoyed an incredible history and partnership with Pirelli, relying on their technical brilliance and focus on performance, innovation, and sustainability for many years,\u201d Domenicali said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we continue to push boundaries across the technical regulatory framework, Pirelli\u2019s commitment to quality gives all the teams and series it supplies peace of mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pirelli executive vice chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera said the company\u2019s long-running F1 involvement continued to play an important role beyond the racetrack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to extend our presence in Formula 1 by a further year, to 2028,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFormula 1 represents the best laboratory for us to innovate, test cutting-edge technical solutions, and continually improve research and development processes, for the benefit of tomorrow\u2019s road tyres.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pirelli\u2019s latest extension comes as the company continues to add to its record as the most experienced tyre supplier in F1 history.<\/p>\n<p>Heading into this weekend\u2019s Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, Pirelli has 515 race starts as a tyre supplier, having overtaken Goodyear\u2019s long-standing record of 493 starts last season.<\/p>\n<p>The company is also set to overtake Goodyear for the most wins by a tyre supplier later this season, with Pirelli (356) currently 12 victories behind the American manufacturer (368).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Pirelli will remain on the F1 grid until at least 2028.
