Sydney Roosters<\/a> young gun Reece Foley\u2019s debut ended in terrible fashion after being knocked out in his side\u2019s 48-10 loss against the Dolphins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With a stack of regular NRL stars unavailable due to State of Origin<\/a> commitments, the 21-year-old was called into the side at centre on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Foley had limited opportunities before he put his head in an awkward spot when attempting a tackle on Jamayne Isaako<\/a>, colliding with the Dolphins winger\u2019s hip.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s the dangers of tackling low,\u201d Andrew Johns<\/a> said on Nine. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf you tackle low and drop your head and take your eyes off the target … he gets his head on the wrong side in an awkward position and it\u2019s lights out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cameron Smith<\/a> agreed there was a clear issue with Foley\u2019s tackle attempt.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all about technique – if you\u2019re tackling low, you can\u2019t afford to put your head down and eyes towards the turf,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cYour eyes need to stay on the target at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n

The rookie got to his feet and was taken from the field. Nine\u2019s Bronte Gildea confirmed that Foley was ruled out with category one concussion symptoms.<\/p>\n

Roosters legend Brad Fittler<\/a> said the youngster \u201clearned a really good lesson\u201d about the strength and power possessed by NRL-level players.<\/p>\n

Moments after the debutant left the field, his Roosters teammate Hugo Savala suffered a similar fate – once again involving Isaako.<\/p>\n

Savala copped a stray shoulder from Isaako in contact and collapsed to the turf.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will be category one, he looks like he\u2019s out … I think that\u2019s his night over,\u201d Johns said on commentary.<\/p>\n

Surprisingly, the five-eighth ruled a category two when he left the field, but ultimately failed his HIA in the sheds, ending his night.<\/p>\n

Isaiya Katoa opened the scoring for the hosts at Suncorp Stadium, splitting through some tired defenders, days after leaving NSW Blues<\/a> camp.<\/p>\n

Superstar centre Herbie Farnworth extended the lead in wet conditions, crossing in the corner to make it a 12-0 buffer at the break. <\/p>\n

The one-way traffic continued in the second half as the Dolphins ran rampant, while the Roosters unveiled another debutant when highly-touted young halfback Toby Rodwell came off the bench for the final 25 minutes and scored a try.<\/p>\n
