Katy Perry kicked off the 2026 World Cup with a bang.<\/p>\n
She brought the energy at SoFi Stadium<\/a> in Los Angeles for the tournament\u2019s opening ceremony Friday night, wearing a silver Stella McCartney FW26 Ready-to-Wear dress.<\/p>\n The floor-length dress featured an exaggerated waistline and was constructed with what appears to be long strands of tinsel \u2014 perhaps a nod to Tinseltown, the home of this year\u2019s competition.<\/p>\n The pop star performed her song \u201cWonder,\u201d off her 2024 album \u201c143.\u201d<\/p>\n Katy Perry sparkled in silver to help kick off the 2026 World Cup Friday in Los Angeles, as pictured above. I heard his vocal in 2023 and was inspired to write the verses for \u2018Wonder\u2019 and added it to my sixth album,\u201d she explained. \u201cTius is 10 now and flew all the way to LA from Norway to sing this song with me on Friday at the World Cup \u2728\u26bd.\u201d<\/p>\n Perry opened the star-studded number<\/a>, which also included Tyla, Anitta and more.<\/p>\n The US intro is one of three opening ceremonies<\/a> by the host countries, with Shakira headlining in Mexico City<\/a> on Thursday and Alanis Morrisette, Michael Bubl\u00e9 and more in Canada Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n While performing on behalf of the United States, Perry also has connections up north after going public with her relationship<\/a> with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in December.<\/p>\n Perry explained in a TikTok video posted Thursday that Tius recorded his part of \u201cWonder\u201d in 2021 when he was 5 and he \u201cinspired\u201d her to write more verses and add to her sixth studio album.
