There was fan frustration for the two games between the Knicks and San Antonio Spurs at MSG this week due to the lack of available watch parties. The Game 3 festivities outside of the arena were canceled due to increased security as a result of President Donald Trump attending the game. <\/p>\n
In the hours leading up to Game 4 on Wednesday, New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani\u00a0announced Knicks governor James Dolan canceled a watch party outside of the arena despite the city approving a permit for the maximum-allowed 999 fans. <\/p>\n
Mamdani did take steps to ensure Knicks fans could still see the game, including working with the NBA to have it broadcast across many public WiFi screens setup throughout the city. <\/p>\n
Games 3 and 4 marked the first time the Knicks have hosted the NBA Finals since 1999. They won Game 4 in thrilling fashion, overcoming a 29-point deficit to earn a 107-106 victory over the Spurs to take a 3-1 series lead. <\/p>\n
The Knicks can close out the series on Saturday night in San Antonio.
