NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets<\/a> forward Ziaire Williams<\/a> has shown plenty of improvement in his game during his time with the Nets after the Memphis Grizzlies<\/a> decided to trade him away a couple of years ago. Brooklyn has been able to maximize what Williams does well on both ends of the court and now, the question is whether the Nets should continue to keep Williams in the fold.<\/p>\n

Williams could be a free-agent this offseason if the Nets do not pick up his $6.25 million<\/a> team option prior to free-agency beginning, but Brooklyn also has to consider how much cap space it wants to open up. Williams is one of six free-agents that the Nets have to make decisions on this summer with center Day’Ron Sharpe being the other player with a substantial club option ($6.25 million).<\/p>\n

Williams, 24<\/a>, is coming off arguably the best season of his five-year career as he averaged 10.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 42.5% from the field and 34.3% from behind the three-point line. Williams not only displayed his ability to bother most perimeter offensive players with his unique combination of size and length, but he also showed significant growth in his offensive game along the way.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, I mean, it’s same game, same approach. I don’t really put any thought into it, and it’s honestly out of my control, unfortunately,” Williams said towards the end of the 2025-26 season when he was asked about his team option. “So I mean, that could be good or bad thing, but yeah, I mean, I just try to just get my rest, give all glory to God, and take care of my family, and just play my heart out.”<\/p>\n

The one thing that Williams is guaranteed to do is play with maximum effort and that is something that head coach Jordi Fernandez and general manager Sean Marks<\/a> appreciates about his game. From the outside looking in, it seems that the Nets would be making an interesting decision by letting Williams walk, especially when considering<\/a> that $6.25 million would be less than 4% of the cap next season.<\/p>\n
