BT Financial has\u00a0named a new head of strategy\u00a0to guide the firm\u00a0as the role of platforms in financial advice continues to evolve.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Simon\u00a0Aboud joined the firm on 1\u00a0June,\u00a0BT confirmed to\u00a0Money Management,\u00a0bringing more than 25 years\u2019 experience from across wealth management, investment management,\u00a0superannuation\u00a0and financial advice.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He joins from Allianz Retire+ where he was\u00a0chief product and marketing officer\u00a0since May 2021, prior to which he served as\u00a0head of investment management,\u00a0innovation\u00a0and brand at FIIG Securities,\u00a0<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, his earlier career saw Aboud complete\u00a0a 12-year\u00a0stint\u00a0at Macquarie Group where he held a range of senior leadership roles, including head of product development and management for Macquarie Global Investments and head of brand and\u00a0client marketing within the banking and financial services division.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
He\u00a0also\u00a0worked\u00a0alongside the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) prior to its merger with the\u00a0Financial Planning Association\u00a0of Australia\u00a0(FPA)\u00a0through which\u00a0the\u00a0Financial Advice Association Australia\u00a0(FAAA)\u00a0was formed\u00a0in 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n
BT Financial chief product officer Annabelle Kline\u00a0told\u00a0Money Management:\u00a0\u201cHe will play an important role as we position ourselves for the significant shifts we\u2019re seeing in the market \u2013 from increasingly complex retirement needs through to the growing role platforms can play for advisers and their clients.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
With the business entering a new phase, Kline\u00a0emphasised the value of Aboud\u2019s\u00a0expertise\u00a0from across the financial services sector as it will help inform\u00a0the firm\u2019s\u00a0decisions going forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n
