The AFL\u2019s<\/a> score review system is once again under fire after Dylan Moore\u2019s goal in Hawthorn\u2019s clash with Melbourne was allowed to stand.<\/p>\n

Moore snapped what looked like the opening goal in the first minute of Saturday\u2019s clash at the MCG.<\/p>\n

The goal umpire gave it the all clear, but Moore\u2019s celebrations were muted and he even signalled to teammates that it was touched off the boot.<\/p>\n

Melbourne defenders Blake Howes and Trent Rivers both tried to smother ball and it was initially unclear who had touched it, although Rivers did immediately signal it was touched.<\/p>\n

It was impossible to tell whether Howes had touched it off Moore\u2019s boot, but replays appeared to show Rivers getting a finger on it as the ball went past his outstretched hand.<\/p>\n

However, despite that, the goal was allowed to stand.<\/p>\n

\u201cDylan Moore gets things going … but he thinks it\u2019s touched. Honest Dylan,\u201d Mark Howard said in commentary.<\/p>\n

Nick Dal Santo added: \u201cYeah, well all the Hawks have already said it\u2019s been touched, so they\u2019re setting up in a zone. That\u2019s where the honesty system should just come straight in, if the player kicking the football says it\u2019s touched.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was unclear if the ARC were looking at the same angle as Fox Footy showed or even if they were looking at the right player.<\/p>\n

\u201cSurely the man up there is swayed by the reaction of the player though,\u201d Howard added.<\/p>\n

But in the end, they allowed the goal to stand.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere must have been no vision to overturn the umpire\u2019s decision,\u201d Howard said.<\/p>\n

Dal Santo raised concerns if that was the case.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s an immediate concern with that \u2013 the players, both clubs, say it was touched,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe technology is not up to the same level as the honesty of the players.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans were not impressed by the call.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is plain stupidity. What\u2019s the point of reviewing, if you\u2019re not going to use it properly,\u201d one fan raged.<\/p>\n

\u201cGoal review technology just stellar. Why do we bother with all the garbage delays when it doesn\u2019t catch a blatant touch called out by the player that kicked it?\u201d Another said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat a joke,\u201d another said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYet in 2021 we were told by the AFL that Tom Lynch\u2019s lack of celebration played a part in them overturning a finals deciding goal. No sporting organisation constantly disrespects fans like the AFL,\u201d another said in reference to a controversial call four years ago,\u201d another said.<\/p>\n
