{"id":735358,"date":"2026-06-14T04:56:16","date_gmt":"2026-06-14T04:56:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/735358\/"},"modified":"2026-06-14T04:56:16","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T04:56:16","slug":"matt-campbell-talks-bathurst-future-with-ford-racing-flags-supercars-interest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/735358\/","title":{"rendered":"Matt Campbell talks Bathurst future with Ford Racing, flags Supercars interest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MATT Campbell hopes his new Ford deal can lead him back to Bathurst in multiple disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>The Aussie star has made news in recent days after deciding to soon depart Porsche \u2013 with whom he\u2019d become part of the furniture \u2013 in favour of the Blue Oval.<\/p>\n<p>It comes as Ford prepares to make its Hypercar debut in the 2027 World Endurance Championship.<\/p>\n<p>While top-level prototypes will clearly be his main focus, Campbell is also looking to continue his longstanding participation in Australian endurance races.<\/p>\n<p>V8 Sleuth contributor David Greenhalgh asked Campbell on the ground at Le Mans whether he\u2019d be likely to pop up in a GT3 Mustang for next year\u2019s Bathurst 12 Hour, and the 31-year-old was all too happy to consider that prospect and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI certainly hope so, for sure it\u2019s one of my favourite events,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/v8-sleuth-magazine-issue-4?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=buy-button&amp;utm_content=buy-button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/sleuth-mag-04_9e8e35e7-2237-44e2-a0d0-d906a6f0e0b6_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve definitely been nudging Ford in that direction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to do a bit of GT3 here and there, or even come back and try and do the Supercar endurance races, and so forth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously everything is calendar-related, but I\u2019d love to get in the Mustang and see what it\u2019s like.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Campbell is a two-time Bathurst 12 Hour outright winner (2019, 2024) and has made four starts in the Bathurst 1000 (2016, 2017, 2021, 2022).<\/p>\n<p>He has previously contested the Great Race for both Triple Eight and Grove Racing, who happen to be Ford\u2019s top two Supercars teams as it stands \u2013 although their respective co-drivers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-38-Nick-Percat\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Percat<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-45-Scott-Pye\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scott Pye<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-4-Will-Davison\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will Davison<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/stats-driver-14-Tim-Slade\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Slade<\/a> are all under contract through next year.<\/p>\n<p>Triple Eight has also been linked to a potential Mustang GT3 program at some stage.<\/p>\n<p>Additional reporting: Connor O\u2019Brien, David Greenhalgh<\/p>\n<p>The Undercut \u2013 The Chevy Situation<\/p>\n<p>The Undercut is back, breaking down the latest happenings in the world of Supercars racing!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"MATT Campbell hopes his new Ford deal can lead him back to Bathurst in multiple disciplines.
