If and when the New York Jets<\/a> find a franchise quarterback, the idea is that they\u2019ll benefit from right tackle Armand Membou\u2019s presence<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Not everyone appears on the same page that Membou should be part of that future, though.<\/p>\n

Bleacher Report\u2019s Gary Davenport re-drafted the 2025 NFL Draft earlier this week and, surprisingly, opted to have the Jets take Penn State pass-rusher Abdul Carter at No. 7.<\/p>\n

Carter initially went No. 3 to the Giants. Although he only finished with four sacks, Carter graded extremely well analytically and is poised for a second-year breakout under John Harbaugh.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs things stand right now, the top two edge-rushers in New York are Will McDonald IV and rookie David Bailey,\u201d Davenport wrote.<\/a> \u201cBailey and Carter could be an imposing duo for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davenport has the Saints taking Membou at No. 9. The Saints\u2019 original first-round pick, left tackle Kevin Banks, went to the Patriots at No. 4.<\/p>\n

Armand Membou needs far more love than he\u2019s getting<\/p>\n

With respect to Davenport, the concept of re-drafts is always flawed.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s start with the obvious: If the Jets had the chance to take Carter, then there is no guarantee that they\u2019d also pick Bailey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Loading up on edge rushers will only take a team so far. Just ask the Giants, who continue facing questions regarding a Kayvon Thibodeaux trade.<\/p>\n

Taking Carter rather than Membou wouldn\u2019t help the Jets\u2019 offensive issues, either.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also the simple fact that Membou, despite having 11 penalties called against him, had a fine rookie season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pro Football Focus<\/a> graded Membou 31st among 89 qualified offensive tackles.<\/p>\n

Although PFF data is never an end-all, be-all, it can be helpful as supplemental material.<\/p>\n

In other words: Combine Membou\u2019s PFF rankings with the Jets\u2019 effectiveness running the ball, and it\u2019s hard to argue he was the wrong pick.<\/p>\n

Now, in fairness to Davenport, these kinds of re-draft listicles aren\u2019t necessarily about a team making the wrong selection.<\/p>\n

Context needs to matter, though. The Jets needed offensive line help<\/a>, and they still haven\u2019t solved their long-term quarterback problem.<\/p>\n

With all of that said, we\u2019ll take Membou over Carter in a heartbeat, at least as it relates to the Jets\u2019 overall situation.<\/p>\n

However, if someone did a re-draft and the Patriots\u2019 Will Campbell slipped to No. 7, wake us up then.<\/p>\n
