Something happened last week that immediately made me wonder whether ARN has already signed up Kris Fade to host KIIS Sydney Breakfast.<\/p>\n

A post-survey proclamation from ARN Chief Content Officer Kerri Elstub<\/a> \u2013 delivered with conviction mere months after the Kyle & Jackie O Show blew up \u2013 stopped me in my tracks.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur plans for next year \u2013 that we cannot tell you about \u2013 are really exciting, and we 100% know that the ratings are going to return for KIIS Breakfast.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the same time, Elstub also played down the revolving door of KIIS Breakfast co-hosts:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat you have read and seen online and in the papers about us auditioning a whole bunch of people simply is not true.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an industry currently as volatile as this, it\u2019s a career-defining call to be 100% certain of anything, let alone the future of an FM Breakfast show at the centre of one of the biggest upheavals in Australian radio history.<\/p>\n

That is, unless:<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve not only found the talent that ticks all the boxes \u2026 \u00a0<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve already signed them up.<\/p>\n

Which brings me back to my original thought: How could Fade not be part of ARN\u2019s equation?<\/p>\n

Already a bona fide radio superstar in Dubai, Fade is no stranger to the Sydney market.<\/p>\n

When Fade hosted The Kris Fade Show <\/a>nationally across the KIIS Network, then-ARN Content boss Duncan Campbell declared him not only a great radio talent, but a great fit for the network.<\/p>\n

In March this year, the radio rumour mill went bonkers.<\/a> When asked directly if he\u2019d been approached by ARN after K & J\u2019s departure, Fade\u2019s \u201cno comment\u201d response generated more questions than it answered.<\/p>\n

Shortly thereafter, Game Changers Radio<\/a> co-host Craig Bruce said Fade had confirmed to him that he had actually spoken with ARN \u2013 but that there was no specific offer on the table.<\/p>\n

Of Elstub\u2019s bold prediction, Bruce tells Radio Today \u201cYou can\u2019t make a \u2018100% better\u2019 statement without having some level of certainty around what you\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKris is the only person I would be 100% certain about in terms of someone having an impact in the market.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf not Kris, then who?\u201d<\/p>\n

Fade has little to prove. From starting out as an EDGE 96.1 street teamer in Sydney to becoming the voice of the Middle East \u2013 a man so famous, he\u2019s been immortalised in wax \u2013 in radio terms, he\u2019s already reached the pinnacle.<\/p>\n

Of course, for Fade to relocate to Australia, his asking price might be a major sticking point for ARN. But consider this: His loved ones are here. In Sydney, no less.<\/p>\n

Maybe, just maybe, it\u2019s less about money, and more about family.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll eat humble pie if I\u2019m wrong (no guts, no glory), but ARN continues to neatly sidestep the Kris Fade rumours thus far \u2013 neither ruling him in, nor out.<\/p>\n
