Image: Supplied<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/t.cfjump.com\/92797\/b\/287093\" rel=\"nofollow sponsored noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; vertical-align: middle;\" src=\"https:\/\/t.cfjump.com\/92797\/a\/287093\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cauchi left the sport after finishing up his Grove duties at the end of 2025, citing a desire to take a break after 18 years in the Supercars paddock.<\/p>\n<p>He relocated from Melbourne to Brisbane and has been working for earthwork supply company JGI Quarry.<\/p>\n<p>Cauchi appeared at Queensland Raceway to help run the Multispares Racing Ford Mustang of Cameron McLeod\/Mason Harvey in the GT4 Australia Series.<\/p>\n<p>The connection came through veteran engineer Wally Storey, who had originally helped Cauchi enter the sport in the mid-2000s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWally reached out to me and asked if I could come and help out for the weekend, being a local round,\u201d Cauchi told Speedcafe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was nice to work with Wally. Secure your spot today.<br \/>\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/ticketekau.pxf.io\/5kYxK3\" style=\"color:#de482e;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Buy tickets<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was good fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cauchi\u2019s exit from Grove Racing included a six-month period of gardening leave, which concluded in mid-March.<\/p>\n<p>Although QR was his first time working at a race meeting since the end of 2025, he did attend a NASCAR race as a spectator during a holiday to the US.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went to the Las Vegas NASCAR race as a spectator with Shane [van Gisbergen], and saw the two NRL games over there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have some family there too, and I also went over to Charlotte and caught up with some friends who work with various NASCAR teams and manufacturers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince coming back to Australia I\u2019ve gotten into some work and settled back into Brisbane. So I\u2019m plodding along, quietly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cauchi described the QR appearance as a one-off for now and said he\u2019s not in any rush to return to professional motorsport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs always, I never say never, but I\u2019m happy doing my thing outside of the industry,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s something I miss, it\u2019s something that was part of my life for a very long time, so I miss the competition and the people you meet along the way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut for now I\u2019m also happy watching it on TV.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"David Cauchi during his time with Grove Racing.
