Back-to-back Masters champion Rory McIlroy will return for this year\u2019s event at Kingston Heath, which will also host the 2028 Presidents Cup.<\/p>\n
As was the case for Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen at Royal Melbourne last year, the winner of this year\u2019s Australian Open will once again receive a place in the field at Augusta National.<\/p>\n
The 2028 Australian Open will be played at the new North Adelaide Golf Course<\/a>, which is set to undergo a $45 million redevelopent and has also been billed as the future home of LIV Adelaide.<\/p>\n Between 2028 and 2034, one of men\u2019s and women\u2019s Australian Opens will be played at the public course every year.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are setting [the Australian Open] up to be Corp Australia<\/p>\n The PGA Tour will begin their three-year partnership with the Australian Open at next year\u2019s Peninsula-Kingswood debut.<\/p>\n That deal was announced last week<\/a> with the tournament to still be co-sanctioned between the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia after significant interest from LIV Golf<\/a>.<\/p>\n But in strengthening the PGA Tour\u2019s alliance with the DP World Tour, the US-based circuit will help boost the prize pool – which was $2 million at Royal Melbourne last year – and encourage more of their stars to venture down harnessed a big reputation.<\/p>\n The north course sits at number five in Australian Golf Digest\u2019s top 100 courses in Australia ranking, while the south course is ranked 15th.<\/p>\n For the tournament, a composite course combining the best holes from each layout will be used \u2014 just as Royal Melbourne did in December.<\/p>\n \u201cKingston Heath will provide another outstanding stage morning that he expects the young venue to be a raging success.<\/p>\n \u201cI think once Rory sees this place, he\u2019ll be racing straight back to play it,\u201d Fraser said.<\/p>\n \u201cMarc Leishman, Elvis Smylie, Adam Scott, Jason Day – they all know about this place and to come and play an Australian Open here will be special.\u201d<\/p>\n As for how the course stands in the world, Fraser admitted he is biased, but gave it high praise.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it\u2019s the best golf club I\u2019ve seen anywhere in the world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve played 500 tournaments around the world and this is by far the best I\u2019ve ever seen.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cProfessional golfers I\u2019ve played with have described it as golf Disneyland,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
