Words could barely describe Gaethje\u2019s epic battle with Topuria that capped off Sunday\u2019s historic show, but \u201cThe Highlight\u201d had social media absolutely buzzing after scoring a massive upset win over the previously undefeated Topuria. Gaethje entered UFC White House as the interim champion, with a pair of failed attempts to claim the undisputed title on his r\u00e9sum\u00e9, but this time he would not be denied as he battered Topuria with his trademark striking, survived a couple of scary moments where it looked like Topuria would come out on top, and outlasted \u201cEl Matador\u201d until the Spaniard\u2019s corner stopped the bout at the end of the fourth round.<\/p>\n
Topuria put on a valiant performance, but he wore the accumulating damage on his face as the bout progressed, to the point that it was almost stopped at the end of Round 3 when it sounded like Topuria\u2019s corner told the ringside physician that Topuria couldn\u2019t see. Somehow, the bout was allowed to continue, so Gaethje needed another five minutes to put an exclamation point on a performance for the ages.<\/p>\n
