A “fed-up” Australian burger<\/a> joint has revealed the reason it increased all menu items<\/a> on Uber Eats<\/a> to $500, including dipping sauces.<\/p>\n

Zaynn Bird, the founder of Stax Burger Co in South Australia, has urged customers<\/a> to dine in or pick up their orders rather than using third-party delivery platforms.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old told Yahoo Lifestyle<\/a> he was sick and tired of feeling like the delivery platform was letting his customers down, and claimed ongoing issues have negatively impacted his business.<\/p>\n

Zaynn said Uber Eats has been “batching” orders from multiple restaurants onto one driver, resulting in longer wait times.<\/p>\n

“Waiting an hour for chips or burgers is not it,” Zaynn, from Adelaide, said.<\/p>\n

He also claimed delivery drivers keep “stealing the food” or damaging it, which led to the decision to raise prices on the platform to try to deter customers from using it.<\/p>\n

“We have no control over it \u2026 My biggest thing is customer service and customer experience,” Zaynn added.<\/p>\n

“What we can control is the orders we send out through our own channels.<\/p>\n

“There are so many gaps in the way delivery platforms handle customer service – usually, the customer just gets a refund.”<\/p>\n

The Stax Burger Co products usually cost between $19 and $29, plus extra for chips, a drink, and sauce.<\/p>\n

But for the foreseeable future, the mouth-watering items will cost $500 on Uber Eats and DoorDash.<\/p>\n

Zaynn said 99 per cent of the restaurant’s negative feedback was related to issues with Uber Eats orders, such as long wait times, receiving incorrect orders, or receiving cold food.<\/p>\n

“The issue is, all of those things directly relate to us as a business, not Uber. Customers think about who they bought from first, not the platform,” he added.<\/p>\n

Zaynn addressed his claims in an Instagram video<\/a> last week to alert his customers of the change.<\/p>\n

“We want to make sure that when you spend your money with us, you get the best food possible. Uber isn’t the way,” he said in the video.<\/p>\n

“If you want to have the best experience possible, get around us, if you want to stay with Uber \u2026 I don’t know, they keep delivering f**king s*** food.”<\/p>\n

Zaynn explained that there is “no point” in removing Stax Burger Co from third-party delivery platforms, as it’s a marketing tactic to expose the business to more people.<\/p>\n

Plus, they have more than 4,000 reviews, and removing this would be a “waste.”<\/p>\n

Customers online praised Zaynn and the team for turning their backs on the delivery platform.<\/p>\n

“More restaurants need to follow this! Or crack down on their bulls*** drivers,” one commented on Instagram.<\/p>\n

“Well said, mate. I will keep coming to collect,” another added.<\/p>\n

But despite the restaurant’s best efforts, one customer still forked out $1,000 via Uber Eats to buy a burger and chips. They were quickly refunded.<\/p>\n
