They don\u2019t control their first-rounder in next summer\u2019s draft, meaning they have no incentive to tank, and therefore must find the most effective way to get this roster to a state of competency, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/13\/sports\/questions-facing-nets-as-theyre-linked-to-big-name-free-agents-austin-reaves-jalen-duren\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Brian Lewis writes for the New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brooklyn is in a position to be one of the major players in free agency, if the front office chooses to go that route. The team has already been <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hoopsrumors.com\/2026\/06\/nets-expected-to-offer-max-deal-to-austin-reaves.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">linked<\/a> to Lakers free agent guard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/reaveau01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Austin Reaves<\/a>, though most expect him to remain in Los Angeles once the dust settles. The Nets could try to bring in some other talented younger veterans like restricted free agents <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/e\/easonta01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tari Eason<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/durenja01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jalen Duren<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/watsope01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Peyton Watson<\/a> to complement veteran forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/p\/portemi01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Michael Porter Jr.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Nets could also explore trying to trade up in the draft, though that\u2019s expected to be very difficult, given the perceived talent level at the top of the class.<\/p>\n<p>We have more from around the Atlantic Division:<\/p>\n<p>The Celtics have three options facing them this summer: run back the same roster, go all-in on a blockbuster deal, or find a way to improve their depth around the margins, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spotrac.com\/news\/_\/id\/3391\/boston-celtics-2026-offseason-preview\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Keith Smith writes in his offseason preview for Spotrac<\/a>. The first option is unlikely, as the team will want to make real progress towards becoming a contender again, Smith speculates. If they pursue the third path, which is the most probable, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/v\/vucevni01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nikola Vucevic<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bantoda01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dalano Banton<\/a> would be unlikely to return. Smith identifies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/simonan01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Anfernee Simons<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/grimequ01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Quentin Grimes<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=collijo01,collijo02&amp;search=John+Collins&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">John Collins<\/a>, among others, as interesting free agent options Boston could target<br \/>\nThe Sixers have three players with team options that they will have to make decisions on by the June 29 deadline, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.phillyvoice.com\/sixers-news-analysis-nba-free-agents-agency-rumors-dominick-barlow-trendon-watford-dalen-terry-team-options\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Adam Aaronson writes for the Philly Voice<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/barlodo01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dominick Barlow<\/a> was a feel-good story for the Sixers this season, emerging as a reliable rotation player after being signed to a two-way deal. However, that doesn\u2019t mean that picking up his $3.4MM option is the best course. Aaronson expects the team to decline that option in order to negotiate a longer deal. A similar outcome makes sense for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/watfotr01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-16_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Trendon Watford<\/a>, as declining his option and signing him to a one-year minimum contract would lower his cap hold from $2.8MM to $2.45MM, though it would prevent him from being traded this summer.
