Glue Store\u2019s last 16 shops will be closed for good and the company\u2019s online portal wound up in the latest blow for Australia\u2019s retail sector.<\/p>\n

The writing had been on the wall for some time and the once-popular fashion chain delivered the news to customers in a short message on its website.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter many years of bringing you the styles you love, Glue Store has permanently closed \u2014 both in store and online,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so grateful for your loyalty and support over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe good news? Our family of brands is still here for you, with the same great range and the style you expect.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement did not share how many jobs would be impacted.<\/p>\n

On social media, Glue, which was founded in 1998, put out a \u201cfinal call for Melbourne\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur online store may be closed, but this is your last call to shop with us in person,\u201d the post said, with deals to run between Thursday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re closing our Emporium Store in Melbourne, and we\u2019re going out with a bang.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company has been up against it since 2024 when news emerged half of its stores would be closed<\/a> because they were \u201cunderperforming\u201d .<\/p>\n

The knockout blow came in February when Glue was deemed \u201cunprofitable\u201d<\/a> and its parent company Accent Group said it would shut the 16 remaining outlets if they went unsold.<\/p>\n

Glue had recorded a loss of $8.4 million in the first half of the 2026 financial year, inclusive of provisions set aside for closure.<\/p>\n

The store\u2019s website has stopped taking orders and is pointing shoppers to other brands and retailers within Accent Group\u2019s stable, including Dr Martens, Lacoste, Platypus and The Athlete\u2019s Foot.<\/p>\n

The news comes after Lincraft<\/a> announced it was closing all physical stores and Barbeques Galore<\/a> said dozens of stores would shut.<\/p>\n

7NEWS.com.au has reached out to Accent Group, which acquired Glue Store in 2021, for comment.<\/p>\n
